the butterfly's brunch

I went to the garden to play with my new
camera, which has a 50X zoom.  I was
impressed with what I could capture from
a fair distance—and handheld too.

up close and personal

Does anyone else find red flowers very
hard to photograph?  I keep trying, though,
and maybe one of these days I'll capture one just the
way I want it to look.  Meanwhile, here's a little
(about an inch across) bloom from my rescued geranium.

Doesn't it look like this little
flower just exploded?

Foxgloves

These beauties were one of a few
"other" species included in the display
at the rose garden in the Brooklyn Botanic.
I went there to shoot the roses, but thought the

foxgloves deserved a closeup of their own.

Moving in Close

I recently got a swell new toy—a lens set for my iPhone,
with a fisheye, a wide-angle,and a closeup lens.
Obviously, I haven't quite perfected my macro skills
with it (you hold the lens about a half-inch from
your subject), but I'm already having way too much fun!

Just One More

I know, I know. I'm going to change the name
of this blog to The Tulip is Mine. I think I'm done

now, but they're so beautiful—and so photogenic!
