non, merci

While I'm not exactly a vegetarian, I do
draw the line at some things—
and this is one of them.  This butcher shop
that specializes in horse meat is deep
in the heart of the 15th arrondissement and
well off the beaten tourist path.

  1. I am almost speechless, but I would probably have the same reaction if they specialized in dogs, cats, or other animals that we associate with having as pets on some level.

  2. I am right with you on drawing the line at horse meat. When I was growing up my family had a Great Dane that ate horse meat. My Mom cooked it in a large pot and the smell was awful. We also had a barn full of horses that we all loved, and would never thought of eating them. Know the French seem to like the stuff, and that is part of what sustains the value of horses in this country.

  3. There used to be one right across from my apartment in the 18th. May be still there.
