San Miniato al Monte

Up on a hill overlooking Florence
is the beautiful 12th-century basilica
of San Miniato. For me, a visit to Firenze
is not complete without a hike up
here. After spending some time in the church
and in the cemetery, I step through this
doorway to head back down to town.

  4. Nice composition. I liked the round-topped doorway and the bit of mystery of what is beyond those doors and the few trees we can see..

  5. I often think those heavy doors are stronger than the walls. Nice shot.

    1. Yes! The monks chanting in the crypt is my favorite part of this place.
