Wheeeee!

It wasn't exactly Great Adventure, but ten times more 
charming.  This was part of a fair that was set 
up on Governors Island—with vintage French carnival
rides and carrousels (more about those next week)
that were steam-powered when they were
first built back in the late-19th and early-20th centuries.
These swings had red velvet seats: fun and elegant.
