ABC Wednesday—J is for "Jean"

This portrait of my mother was taken
when she was 30 (by my father;
she was his lifelong muse).  She made it to

96, and last Saturday would have been
her 97th birthday.  About 50 of her
friends and relatives gathered to remember
her and celebrate her long, happy life.

Thursday Challenge—"young"

My dad (who made his living partly as a
producer/director) took this picture
of my mom and me (I was 3-ish and she
wasn't even 30). I'd like to think
that he asked me (as a director) to make
 that face, but I was
 probably
just being a brat.

Skywatch Friday

A glorious southwest Virginia sky—in
honor
of my mother, who was born and
raised there and whose 96th birthday is today.

Photo Hunt—"clean"

Last time I visited my mom, she
made us a delicious meal that was
topped off with these beautiful berries.
I hope that when I'm 92, I'll be as
sharp and independent as she is.

Thursday Challenge—"mother"

Here's my mom at age 29, flirting with
the photographer (my dad).  When I was
a kid (yes, that's me), I thought my mother
was the most beautiful woman in the world.

Now she's 92. She has that
same haircut again and she's

still cute—and still a flirt too!
