Calling all sea creatures

On Saturday, my daughter Lila and her friends
marched in Coney Island's yearly Mermaid Parade
(in honor of a departed friend, their intrepid
and much loved leader in parades past).
I loved seeing all those who come out to march—lots

of fun whatever your age, breed, or state of (un)dress!

Mellow Yellow Monday

A talented friend—Bob Sievert—had a gallery
show last year.  I love his blasĂ© nudes, but

I especially liked his "mermaids," an
homage to our annual Coney Island Mermaid
Parade (which takes place next Saturday).

the mermaid parade

Today's the annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade.  Unfortunately,
I'm missing it.  But fortunately, I have these shots of last
year's parade (stolen borrowed from my talented daughter Lila—

who's also marching this time & I hope someone gets a picture).
One of these years . . . (but as a spectator, not a "mermaid").
