Weekend Reflections

Another souvenir from my most recent
visit down south: These sailboats
were already docked in a quiet cove for
the night,
but I love to see them
under
full sail out on the Chesapeake Bay!

Thursday Challenge—"minimal"

About 21 years ago, I moved from a 2,000-sq.-ft.
(186 sq. meters) loft to a place that's maybe
half that.  Next step: pare down even more.
Could I fit everything I need/want in a home the
size of this place, for example? I'm actually thinking
apartment in Paris, not shotgun house in Virginia—
but sizewise, this is probably what I could afford.
Cozy is good, right?

Thursday Challenge—"sports"

I spent last weekend at a house right
on the Chesapeake Bay, and for
three days we were treated to the sight
of graceful sailboats taking part in a regatta.

one lone radish

My friends down in Virginia have a
very impressive garden, where they grow
all kinds of yummy veggies.  When I
visited in June, however, this was the
full extent of the radish crop.

Shadow Shot Sunday

This is a model of the USF Constellation; the original
was built in Baltimore in 1797.  I took this shot in June
at the charming Deltaville [VA] Maritime Museum, and just
discovered as I was preparing this post that the museum
was gutted by fire in July.  Among the treasures that were
lost were Civil War artifacts and some beautiful
ship models (including this one, I assume). So sad,
but
they've vowed to rebuild—and I'll be back when they do.
