| This great bearded heron looks a bit like a grumpy old man in a gray overcoat, doesn't it? The only one of its kind that we saw in the Galapagos, this bird was strolling along a lava field on Isla Santiago (and like all the creatures we encountered, on land or in the sea, not the least bit bothered by us). Fascinating photo! The heron looks like something out of a fairy tale or myth. I like the red crabs, too.
O what a gorgeous character he looks in this stunning photo! I immediately thought of old Scrooge from Dickens too!

Good one for H. He does look a bit grumpy. I wonder if he eats crabs? If so, there was a meal waiting to be had.
