It's how old?!

Lots of people walk past
this tree in the
Square Viviani in Paris and
don't even realize it's the oldest tree
in the city.  It's a locust, planted in 1601 by
Jean Robin, the gardener of Henri IV.
{I'm headed to Paris tonight—maybe I'll
stop by and see how it's doing.}

The Weekend in Black and White

Is it just me, or does anyone else see
the face of Chewbacca in this tree?

ABC Wednesday—E is for "Eiffel Tower"

Per Blogger, this is my 31st post that
features the ET.   That sounds
like a lot until you factor in that this is
pretty much my fave thing in
my fave place.  And considering that there

are entire blogs devoted solely to the
Eiffel Tower, 31 posts out of more than 3,000
actually seems like a pretty small number.
(So does that mean it's time to go
back and take more pictures?)

The Weekend in Black and White

"He who plants a tree is a servant of God.
He provides a kindness for many generations, and
faces that he has not seen shall bless him.

A tree . . . and me

What looks like a warm, sunny day was
actually a bitter-cold (sunny) day.  I'm all bundled
up; as for the poor naked tree, every time the
wind kicked up, it looked like it was shivering!

Shadow Shot Sunday

This is one of the less colorful houses
on the island of Burano, near Venice—but it
does host a pretty terrific shadow.  If they ever
have to take that tree down, I think they
should paint this shadow on the house first.
