inSPIREd Sunday

This is the 5th Avenue Presbyterian Church,
and it's worth checking out at least
some of its history here.  Right now, the exterior
is undergoing a big renovation (you can see
the scaffolding through the window
at bottom right), necessitating the removal of the
Celtic cross and clock tower atop the spire.
It's a big job and the whole church is enveloped.

This stained-glass window in the church of
St.-Etienne-du-Mont features an image
of the church itself.  The building to the right
 (the original abbey, I believe) is no longer there . . .

but the church looks the same
as it did when it was completed 
391 years ago.

The incredibly beautiful Sainte Chapelle.
I could spend hours in this place
(and I have—twice I've been to a musical
performance here on a summer evening, when
the sun doesn't set until almost 11 p.m.).
