catch of the day

Saw these at a crafts fair down in Virginia—
all the colorful fish are made from old
barn wood, roofing, and siding.
Lots of boaters and fishermen
(and vacation homes) in these parts,

so they were doing a brisk business.

cock-a-doodle-doo!

I'm off to the Virginia countryside for a few
days of R and R (and R, for my cousin's
outsider-art rooster—isn't he a hoot?).

funky chicken

This is my cousin's yard ornament,
which is about as tall as I am.
I LOVE outsider art (and have one small
piece of my own, but I'm still
pretty envious of this big beauty)!

outsider art

Though I'm not particularly religious, I
do love the work of Howard Finster.
Shot this at a new museum (the Taubman)
in Roanoke, VA, over New Year's.
So how do you feel about "outsider art"?
