This 15th-century limewood carving of Jesus on a Palmesel (German for palm donkey) was used in Palm Sunday processions reenacting Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on a donkey. (One curious thing about this statue: I don't think I've ever seen Jesus depicted with a receding hairline—have you?) [It's Ruby Tuesday; to see more go here. Shadow Shot Sunday
![]() |
Can't imagine why I'd never visited The Cloisters (maybe because it's way up there in the Bronx), but finally went last weekend and it was as wonderful as I knew it would be—kind of like traveling all the way to Europe on the A train. [To see more Sunday Shadows, go here.] |
