This 15th-century limewood carving of Jesus on a Palmesel (German for palm donkey) was used in Palm Sunday processions reenacting Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on a donkey. (One curious thing about this statue: I don't think I've ever seen Jesus depicted with a receding hairline—have you?) [It's Ruby Tuesday; to see more go here. C'est vrai que cela est des plus originale sculpture que j'ai vu!

Have a nice day!
You're right, I don't ever remember Christ being presented in such a manner. Nicely captured image. Happy Ruby Tuesday Too.
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful carving!
ReplyDeleteVery nice sculpture but I don't picture Jesus with a balding - he was still young and where is the hair?
ReplyDeleteFascinating statue!
