This beautiful staircase is in the Musée Marmottan Monet. The museum is off the usual beaten (tourist) path, in the 16th arrondissement. In addition to the impressive (pun intended) collection of Monets and other works, is the building itself—a former hunting lodge at the edge of the Bois de Boulogne. {Note: no picture-taking allowed here. Gorgeous hand rail (a bit of a Minoan Crete spiral motif), carpet, and tapestry. I like the way the stairs and the upper section of hand rail kind of feed into each other.
ReplyDeleteI remember counting something like 6 or 7 shades of red in the sun in Impression, Sunrise. The garden outside captured my attention at the time as well (or the view of it from inside).
Oh, I wonder if they will let me sneak in quietly. I think I hear chamber music from up stairs.
what a wonderful stairs that is, i would love to have it in a house in which it suits best
