ABC Wednesday—A is for "abeille"

Which is French for bee, of course.  This one
is in the floor of a shop on rue Vignon,
in Paris.  It's called La Maison du Miel and is
filled with honey and also lots of wonderful
things made with honey (soap, candies,
cookies, jam, vinegar, you name it.

The first rose

When I took this shot on Mother's Day, the
roses were not yet blooming at the Brooklyn Botanic—
except for these primula x rosa  (also called

primroses, from the latin for "first rose"), one of 1,200
different kinds in the Cranford Rose Garden (one of
the largest collections of rose cultivars in North America).

Two bees

... she gave me a lesson in "bee yard etiquette."
She reminded me that the world was really one bee
yard and the rules work fine in both places.
... Don't be afraid, as no life-loving bee wants
to sting you.  ...Don't even think about swatting.
... Act like you know what you're doing even if you don't.
Above all, send the bees love.  Every little thing wants to be loved.
Bees have a secret life we don't know about.

Bzzzzzz!

I shoved my little iPhone macro lens
down inside a peony—and this busy bee

really couldn't have cared less (fortunately).

And it's the 1st of the month, so I've posted to my Paris blog.]

Bzzzzzzz

Another cooperative little bumblebee—or just
too high on nectar to pay any attention to the
large presence looming over him.

bzzzzzzz

A shot like this is a real challenge, and I always
appreciate it when the bee stays still long
enough for me to take the picture—and doesn't
sting me even though I'm up in its face.

[Hey, it's Mellow Yellow Monday and Macro Monday.]
