abc Wednesday—W is for "window"

I showed you a window yesterday, but these
are a bit more "uptown, " both literally
and figuratively.  These wonderful windows
grace the 1901 Beaux-Arts building on 44th Street
that houses the New York Yacht Club.  BTW, it was
designed by the same architects (Warren and Wetmore)
who designed the exterior of Grand Central Terminal.
Here's a close-up.

  1. I love how over the top that façade is! It looks like the stone is melting under the windows. Thanks for posting!

  5. They must be the most ornate windows in the world. Just like three 18th Century sailing ships had been turned to stone.

  6. Would you believe that I have been there several times? I have a client in your area who likes to meet here and I love Maltilda at the Algonquin just down the street and City Club and Triomphe restaurant... It is my favorite street in the area!
