Rome at Night II
I love wandering around this city in the wee hours. The street lamps cast a soft golden glow— and sometimes a pretty cool shadow too. [It's Shadow Shot Sunday—to see more, go here.] |

Skywatch Friday
Spent a day in Rome a few years ago with my big bro, David. Over the course of about 9 hours, we experienced bright sun, torrential rain, even some good-sized hail! This was the view over Roma as our train pulled out of the city. [To see more Skywatch, go here.] |

Thursday Challenge — "construction"
Here's Brooklyn's controversial construction project: Atlantic Yards, a huge mixed-use residential and commercial development. This is the skeleton of what will become the new home of the Nets basketball team. Apparently the latest problem for nearby residents is rats—and to think I considered buying in a beautiful old brownstone right near here. [To see more on the theme, go here.] |

All the children crossing the Pont des Arts in Paris were drawn like little magnets to these huge bubbles. I love the look of sheer wonder on those kids in the background. [To see more of the letter B, go here.] |

The woman in the window
Took this from a train traveling through a far-flung neighborhood in Brooklyn. It was early in the morning and already in the 90s—and this woman's apartment was clearly not equipped with air-conditioning. Maybe she went to a nice cool movie theater later. [That's My World. Found this painter and his subjects in Washington Square Park—from the look on that woman's face, I'm thinking these folks have been posing here for a while! [To see more of Olivier's Walk in the Street challenge, go here.] |

Thursday Challenge — "yellow"
I think there's enough yellow here to qualify. What caught my eye in this window display on the Ile St. Louis in Paris, though, were the Eiffel Tower graters. Would have made a nice addition to my ET collection, but the store was closed. Quel dommage. [To see more of the Thursday Photo Challenge, go here.] |

That's My World
I saw this guy (and his two friends) last year in Union Square and have been hoping to find them again ever since. Finally encountered them near Bethesda Fountain, in Central Park. At the end of their very engaging tumbling act, after jumping over the adorable and cooperative small child he then jumps over four adults at once! Mellow Yellow Monday
Yeah, they're kinda gorgeous—and I have at least one friend who can dance all night in hers. But, seriously, I doubt I could walk a city block in these red-soled beauties. How about you? |
Here's the whole window of Christian's fab boutique on Madison Ave. One of these days (when I'm dressed like I could ever afford them), I'm gonna go in and try on a pair or two. I'll report back. [To see more Mellow Yellow, go here.] |

What!?
I was walking through Central Park recently and decided to pass through Strawberry Fields—but when I got there, expecting to find the usual large but peaceful crowd, this is what I found instead. And I never was able to discover what had happened. I do know one thing for sure: John would not be pleased. [And That's My World. To see more of the world, go here.] |

Stepping out in front of the Louvre: my daughters, Lila and Katie, and in between their good pal (soon to defend her dissertation and become Dr.!) Dena. When we were there last March, these girls owned the town! (Or at least the part of it that wasn't mine.) :~} [To see more shadows, go here.] |
