ABC Wednesday—Z is for "zucchini blossoms"

I ate as many of these as I could when I was
in Italy—fried, stuffed, or both.
Bonus: I never noticed the "Eat Me, I'm Ripe"
 sign until I got home and put this
up on the computer.

Here's a closeup of one of my fave
pieces of art (which also
showed up here with its partner).
I'd love to tell you who painted
this colorful dragonfly—but I can't.
All I do know is that it came
from England.

ABC Wednesday—Z is for "zebra"

. . . and a cab zipping by.  Saw this somewhere on
Madison Avenue, in what's not exactly a
funky neighborhood.  Someone has a quirky
sense of urban design style, I'd say.

Here's the guy who keeps the ice nice and smooth
for the skaters at the Rockefeller Center Rink.

And btw, if you haven't seen that 
tree, you have until 8 o'clock
 tomorrow night before they turn
it off and take it down.

ABC Wednesday—Z is for "zodiac"

. . . as seen in the famous timepiece in Piazza San Marco's
clock tower; it displays the time of day, phases of
the moon, and the current sign of the zodiac.

I can't see what tells you the 
time on the 24-hour clock, but can see 
that when I took these pictures
the sun should have been in Libra. 
 I checked and it was (October 2, 2008).

ABC Wednesday—Z is for "zebra"

No, I haven't been on safari (or even
to the zoo).  This is one of the wonderful
dioramas at The Museum of Natural History.
When I was a kid, I thought it was just
like being right there on the African plain.

ABC Wednesday—Z is for "zentangle"

So what is a zentangle anyway? Basically,
it's just doodling—but for lots of people (including
me), it's kind of a form of  meditation. Mine are
pretty simple so far, but you can see some incredibly
complex and imaginative examples on Pinterest.

ABC Wednesday—Z is for "ziplining"

I've been saving this picture since October
when my daughter Katie (that's her, about to
fly over a long, deep ravine) and I went
ziplining in the Ecuadorian cloud forest—
one of the most fun things I've ever done!

abc wednesday —Z is for "zecchino"

aka sequin. In Italian, zecchino means "coin"—
I borrowed this bit of info from Wikipedia:

"Coins known as sequins were used for centuries throughout the
Mediterranean. In the cultures where these sequins
circulated, the custom of stitching sequins and similar coins to
women's clothing originally arose as a way to display (and store)
the family's wealth. This ancient custom led to the
use of sequined fabric in modern fashion."

Now I like a bit of bling as much as the next girl, but I
think I'll keep the few coins I have in the bank, thank you.

abc wednesday —Z is for . . .

. . . zombie hunter??  Well, I guess we all need
a hobby.  Or maybe it's a career—if so, I'm glad
I didn't spot this car in my neighborhood!
