Shadow Shot Sunday

I found some welcome shade and shadows
on a very sunny spring day on
Venice's cemetery island, San Michele.

  1. It is fitting that all of the residents of that island are but mere shades themselves; Igor Stravinsky and Ezra Pound among them. I was thinking of paraphrasing Pound’s two-line poem In a Station of the Metro into:

Apparitions of Faces on the Island of San Michele

    Flower petals
    Tumbriled to earth

Then thought of an 800-year-old Japanese poem.

  2. I love Venice! Looks like it was a splendid day to be out.
