Photo Hunt—"awesome"

I feel strongly that "awesome" is a
very overused word. That said . . .
Three friends and I recently shared this
molten chocolate cake and scoop of salted caramel
ice cream—and we all agreed that they were awesome!

When I think 'spicy,' I think of Indian food.
And when I think 'Indian food,' I think of
Jackson Heights, in Queens.  When I was little
we lived there, but back then it was about as far from
eclectic as you could possibly get.  Sixty years later, it's
a vibrant ethnic neighborhood with the best
Indian food (imho) in the five boroughs.

An unpretentious little white

Went to a wine-tasting in Soho, where they also served de-lish 
made-right-in-front-of-you Italian food with each wine.  I actually 
learned something (and yet still buy the stuff in the box—go figure).

Photo Hunt — "fuzzy"

This is my friend Lisa, the hostess at last night's New Year's Eve bash, and a young guest.
This photo qualifies for the category on two counts:  First, it's a bit fuzzy
(yes, Champagne had been consumed)—and I get a warm, fuzzy feeling
when I'm able to celebrate the new year with family and good friends.

Photo Hunt — "hard to find"

These long-stemmed beauties are all but impossible to find even
here in NYC—but easy to locate at the Rialto Market, in Venice.
And the price is right, too—at 10 for 4 euros (about $5.25).

This beautiful animal is a "retired" show horse.  
She's earned her retirement, and is living the good life in the 
Virginia countryside—and she's still very much alive!

Photo hunt — "dark"

"It was a dark and stormy night."

Actually, it really was.  We've been having some strange weather 

around here lately.  As if two tornadoes weren't enough, 

a couple of weeks ago I came out of the subway to find leaves 

and branches strewn everywhere—the aftermath of a torrential hailstorm,

with hailstones the size of eyeballs.  My building's super 

told me that every single car alarm on the block went off.  

Can't quite decide whether I'm grateful or disappointed that, 

once again, I was underground and missed the show.

photo hunt — "miniature"

Don't know if it's still there, but for many years there was a little shop in
Paris's Palais Royal that sold nothing but toy soldiers.  These were just
a few of the thousands they had in their collection.
