of these, or whether you can actually just
buy one (seems wrong if you can).  They're on display 
at Bacqueville, one of my all-time fave shops 
in the arcade of the Palais Royal, in Paris.

ABC Wednesday—A is for "amber"

This jewelry is in the Maison de l'Ambre, located
under the arcades of the Palais Royal in Paris
and specializing (something the French do SO well)
in pieces made of fossilized tree resin.
Worth a visit if you're into that sort of thing—
and not even that expensive, considering
that this stuff has been around for millennia.

Shadow Shot Sunday

I can't imagine going to Paris and not
taking at least one stroll along the
beautiful arcades of the Palais Royal—
especially lovely when the sun is out and
the lamps cast their shadows.

I shot a shoot

I came across this photo shoot in the
Palais Royal.  The photographer
made good use of the Buren columns and the
beautiful late-afternoon light and shadows.
(There was probably some post-production
work—I photoshopped a stray person
out of this picture myself.)

Maison Bacqueville

These folks have been in business since 1790,
and I want to say that they've had their shop in
the Palais Royal for as long as I can
remember (and that's a very long time).
I doubt you can purchase a Croix de Guerre
or Ordre de la Legion d'Honneur medal without
earning it, but if you want to design your
own, these are the people to see.

Sweet Dreams

When I was in Paris, I met Rosemary—whose
interesting and informative blog is called Aussie in France.
She walked around the Palais Royal gardens with 
us and had lots of fascinating things to tell us about it
(she—lucky girl!—lives in an apartment 
that overlooks that beautiful space).
I considered moving into this boutique so I 
could live on the PR gardens too.  Who needs privacy?

photo hunt — "miniature"

Don't know if it's still there, but for many years there was a little shop in
Paris's Palais Royal that sold nothing but toy soldiers.  These were just
a few of the thousands they had in their collection.
