ABC Wednesday—K is for "kissing 9-to-5 goodbye"

I'm packing up my blue pencils and retiring today!
Am grateful for the past 10 years
at this job at Parents magazine, working with
                              some wonderful people—and I hereby
bequeath my greenery to the next person to
                          occupy this cozy cubicle.

ABC Wednesday—G is for "garbage?"

At my office, we occasionally
find some very festive
items in the trash.

ABC Wednesday—L is for "lazy"

Last week I promised cute and cuddly.

This 2-year-old two-toed sloth
clung to her human companion (again,
one of the nice folks from Sea World who show
up at the office from time to time with
critters and make our day).

ABC Wednesday—K is for "kookaburra"

The nice folks from Sea World come to see
us from
time to time.  Three years ago, they brought a
couple of penguins to the office, and they
showed up recently with some more cute critters,
including this (very loud) kookaburra.

(Come by next week to see an especially
cute and cuddly visitor.)

Shadow Shot Sunday

I was pruning my office plants this week
and discovered that my desk lamp
creates some cool shadows.  Naturally, the
first thing I thought of was this meme.

Today's Flowers?

My new work space is right next to the

food editors at another magazine, Family Circle
This showed up last week, so I went over to
admire the pretty orchid—and then . . .

someone cut into it!

Thursday Challenge—"plants"

This is my old office space.  The
real challenge
here was how I would move these
plants—which have been thriving and growing
and taking over for 4+ years—when I had
to move to a new cubicle this week.

Anyway, here are the new digs.

Thursday Challenge—"soft"

The Pillsbury Doughboy stopped by our
office recently—and one of my young
colleagues just couldn't resist!

It's a jungle in here

What do you do when you move into a new office
and find you have to look at other people's
junk piled up on the other side of your cubicle?
You build yourself a wall o' greenery!  These
prolific plants have pretty much taken
over my workspace—and I love them for it!

[Today is Theme Thursday, and the theme is "greenery."

ABC Wednesday—A is for "astonishing"

It's not very often (if ever) that you have a pair
of penguins waddling around your office—but
that's exactly what happened yesterday when
Pete and Penny came to visit from Sea World.
Seriously—made my day!

Thursday Challenge — "toys"

Doesn't everyone have toys in their office?  Well, if
you work at a magazine devoted to little kids
and their parents, you probably do!

Thursday Challenge: Work

This is what I look at while I'm working:
a 2009 calendar retrofitted for 2010,
our prez back when, Shell Sherree's
fab art, my gorgeous girls, Paris, and Venice
(including Pierre from Venice
Daily Photo's wonderful shot of the
Rialto Market after hours). What's on
your office wall?

[See more of this Thursday Challenge here.]
