The Weekend in Black and White

I followed this trio of nuns as they
strolled (almost) in unison
through always bustling Piazza Navona, in Rome.

inSPIREd Sunday

Here's the church of Sant' Agnese in Agone,
in the Piazza Navona; its main
architect was Borromini, arch-rival of
Bernini, who created the Four Rivers fountain
(built around an obelisk brought to Rome
by the emperor Caracalla) directly in front of the church.  
It's said that Bernini sculpted his figure depicting
the Nile with its head covered, as though
 hiding from Borromini's looming church façade,
but in fact the fountain predates the
façade by quite a few years.

Terrace Envy

Yes, I still suffer from it.  But really, imagine having 
this amazing terrace overlooking the Piazza Navona and 
Bernini's fabulous Quattro Fiume fountain. Heaven.

That's My World Tuesday

Well, it was my world for a few days this month.  
This is Bernini's famous 1651 fountain of the 
Quattro Fiume, in Rome's Piazza Navona—with 
representations of a river for each of the continents
 known at the time.  This one is the Danube.
