inSPIREd Sunday

Here's the beautiful dome of Sacré Coeur
in Paris.  This shot was taken a few
years ago and I'm a bit sad to report that
when I was last there (in July) they
had outlawed photography in the church
altogether.  Maybe that's not a bad
thing (it is a church, after all), though I'm
sure it was the
"flashers" who precipitated that
new rule.
 You know who you are!

inSPIREd Sunday

One more reason I love my loooong lens:
The view of Sacré Coeur (and to the left of it
Saint-Pierre-de-Montmartre, the oldest church in Paris)
seen from the terrace of the Musée D'Orsay

in SPIREd Sunday

Here are the spires of Sacré Coeur seen peeking out from
behind the buildings on the rue du Chevalier de la Barre.  The
street was named for a nobleman who was tortured and
executed at age 20 in 1766.  I won't go into detail but it was definitely
a case of "overkill."  Among his "crimes": not doffing his hat as
a religious procession passed him, singing impious songs,
and having a copy of Voltaire's Dictionnaire Philosophique.

ABC Wednesday—S is for "Sacré Coeur"

Don't know if I'll make it up to Montmartre
this trip—but even if I do, I doubt the
church will be set off by a beautiful blue sky
like this one.  (This shot was taken in July.)
Frankly, I'll be happy with lots of clouds and no rain!

Thursday Challenge — "lights"

Beaucoup de lumiere here at Sacré Coeur, in Paris.
They just seem to go on forever, n'est-ce pas?
