Here's an addendum to Eric's 2/22 post:
My cousin Kay just got back from Paris, where
she took this shot of part of the 6-hour line
to get in and see YSL and PB's gorgeous
collection. Apparently they made close to
$500,000,000 for Aids research. Must have
been hard for Pierre to let go of some of those
things—but what generosity!
I think YSL would be very pleased.
Thanks for giving us a kind of woman-on-the-street view of this event. As you say, it is laudable that proceeds of the auction will help to benefit many less fortunate that the seller and now former owner.
ReplyDeleteOut of curiosity I wondered what non-Parisians wait six hours for:
U.S.A.
Japan
Bangkok
Hawaii
China
{Lucky Kay!} That's a staggering number of zeroes! Generous with a capital Gee.
ReplyDeleteNPR had an article about the auction. The slide show is nice, especially when done "full screen."
ReplyDeleteOh, the links! Thanks, TG -- for keeping us doubled over AND well-informed.
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful slideshow. {Quelle horreur - are those fluoro lights I see in his Paris atelier???} Young YSL reminds me of George McFly {actor Crispin Glover}, Marty McFly's father in Back to the Future. {Definitely not the untucked shirt per this scene, though. From the sublime to the ridiculous, but I did love that movie.}
ReplyDeleteAh, Crispen Glover or Yves St. Laurent, it's anyone's guess, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteLove his fur coat.
